Speed Limits

The speed limits for both caravans and motorhomes in the UK are lower than those for passenger cars.

Motorhomes:  As the majority of motorhomes are built on van chassis, they will need to observe the speed limits for vans/goods vehicles.  Whilst a car may travel at up to 60 mph on single carriageways and 70 mph on dual carriageways, vans and motorhomes are only allowed to travel up to 50 mph on single carriageway roads and 60 mph on dual carriageway roads. For more details, see advice from the Department for Transport.

Touring caravans: A car towing a caravan may only travel up to 50 mph on single carriageway roads and 60 mph on dual carriageway roads.  For more information, see the Government website.

Abroad: Please note, speed limits abroad are NOT the same as in the UK.
